Why Use THESE Handmade Soap Instagram Hashtags
Here’s the skinny, my soaping friend.
All of those hashtag generators that you can find in a quick Google search?
They mostly compile the top (read: most used) hashtags on IG.
This does NOT work in your favor…think about it.
If you use a VERY popular hashtag, such as #soap (which has been used 10.3 MILLION times) – what are the chances that someone else is using that same hashtag as you the same time you are posting?
(Answer: Very likely.)
The result? You’ll simply get buried underneath the other hundreds of Instagram users that are dishing that same hashtag.
Effort…and that hashtag…is wasted.
Your goal is to use hashtags that are less popular, yet popular enough, so that your post ISN’T buried underneath other users…yet still have eyes waiting for your beautiful share.
Best news? Every hashtag below has been researched to meet that ‘sweet spot’ for optimal viewership!

Tips for Using Your Handmade Soap Hashtags to Maximize Your Reach
Tip 1: 5k – 500k Post Count
All of the handmade soap hashtags above were researched and had a post count of between 5k and 500k at the time of publication (this is the ‘sweet spot’).
This range is optimal for your posts to be seen by your chosen audience.
If you choose to research your own hashtags, you can find this number underneath the hashtag when you type it into the search bar on Instagram.
Tip 2: Use all 30 Hashtag Slots
When posting on Instagram, you can include up to 30 hashtags in either your post caption or in the comments section.
USE ALL OF THEM!
Every hashtag is an opportunity for a new pair of eyes to see your soaping business – using only a portion of your allotted hashtags is wasting the effort you put into making an engaging post.
Tip 3: Make Hashtag Lists
The Instagram algorithm wants to see a variety of hashtags being used on each account rather than the same ones over and over again.
After finding hashtags that speak to your own handmade skincare product line, make a variety of lists (at least 3) that you can rotate through as you post your content.
Tip 4: Delete Your Hashtags
After making your lists as suggested in tip 3 above, come up with a rotating system. (Use set 1 on Monday, set 2 on Wednesday, set 3 on Friday…or something similar according to your own posting strategy.)
Before using set 1 again the following Monday, delete the hashtag set from the previous Monday’s post (be sure to keep the rest of your caption though!).
Tip 5: Quarterly Refresh
Eventually, you will start to see a little less engagement and reach from your hashtag lists – at this point, take the time to create new ones.
I have found that every quarter is enough for my account – your ‘peak’ times may be shorter or longer depending on your audience. Just make sure you’re consistent!
